The first overnight campers from the Washington, DC region will arrive at Melwood's Camp Accomplish on Sunday, June 19 for their first day of summer camp. Day campers will arrive June 20. Camp Accomplish is the only one of its kind in Maryland, bringing together equal numbers of children with and without disabilities.

John Brown III has been named the recipient of the 2011 Community Leader award by Teo Sodeman, tournament director for the Melwood Prince George’s County Open presented by Under Armour. The Nationwide Tour event will take place at the University of Maryland Golf Course, June 2-5.

Melwood today announced the addition of two new federal government contracts that will result in appproximately 170 new jobs, more than 60 of which will be for people with disabilities. The contracts are with the U.S. Coast Guard Yard (USCG) in Baltimore and at Fort George G. Meade. Follow the link to read the entire release.

Melwood Prince George's County Open presented by Under Armour Tournament Director Teo Sodeman today announced that the winner of The Junior Invitational at Sage Valley Golf Club in Aiken, S.C. will receive a sponsor's exemption to compete in this year's Nationwide Tour event at the University of Maryland Golf Course, June 2-5.

In late January and again in early February, 14 workers with disabilities from the Melwood Recreation Center in Nanjemoy teamed up to volunteer their professional services as custodians and landscapers at the Tri-County Animal Shelter in Hughesville. Specifically, the crew raked leaves, swept and mopped the floors throughout the facility.

Melwood Prince George's County Open Tournament Director, Teo Sodeman, today announced that University of Maryland men's basketball head coach Gary Williams will serve as the Tournament Host for the 2010 Melwood Prince George's County Open. The PGA TOUR sanctioned Nationwide Tour event will be played at the University of Maryland Golf Course May 31st - June 6th, 2010.
