Holidays in the Garden Center
Posted in: Melwood Garden Center, Melwood News, Horticulture Therapy
The three greenhouses at the Melwood Garden Center manage to stay pretty full throughout the year. Their contents change with the seasons, and no season is quite so beautiful as the end-of-year holiday months. With all three houses packed from end to end with boldly colored poinsettias, it is one of our favorite times of year.
Not only do the horticulture-focused individuals within Crossroads spend time cultivating and caring for the plants, they take time to spread holiday cheer by volunteering in the community. The group recently visited a local nursing home to share horticulture therapy activities and help them decorate for the season.
As always, we have several poinsettia sales scheduled in the coming weeks and would love for you to visit us to purchase your holiday plants. But, if you are unable to make it to any of the sale dates or locations, feel free to stop by the Garden Center at 5606 Dower House Road in Upper Marlboro Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4pm. Contact Sheila Gallagher at sgallagher@melwood.org or 301-599-4570 if you would like to place an order.
