Frequently Asked Questions
If I am not registered in the class, can I still attend? No, all staff need to pre-register for classes by contacting the Corporate Training and Development Coordinator. Corporate Training will provide registration documents to employees once they have successfully registered for their classes. If my CPR card has not expired yet, will I have to take the whole class? Yes. We are no longer providing a "skills challenge." Can I take training classes, if they are not required for my position? It depends on the class, the space available within that class, and supervisory approval. Will Continuing Education Unit’s (CEU) be given for the classes I take? Yes, for those classes successfully completed at Prince George’s Community College. Will I receive a certificate of training on the related topics? Yes, you will receive an official professionally produced certificate of completion for all classes you attend. If I complete the Maryland DDA required training classes at another agency, will Melwood accept that training? Melwood’s Corporate Training and Development staff will make that decision. In order to make that decision you will either need to provide copies of the certificates you received once you completed the DDA trainings, or you will need to provide us with an official training transcript from your previous employer on company letterhead which states which classes you completed and the dates they were completed. Will my training count at other Maryland DDA provider agencies? It is at the discretion of that agency. If I lose my certificates, can I get copies? No, certificates will not be reproduced. However, you can receive a training transcript of all classes completed for a nominal fee. |
