 How We HelpRecreational ServicesFor more than 30 years, Melwood´s travel and recreation program has offered a variety of recreation opportunities to people with developmental and physical disabilities. Known as Access Adventures, the program emphasizes small group community integration and strives to promote a safe, fun, and caring environment. Everyone deserves the chance to get away and have fun!
Our trips depart by train, van or plane to vacation spots such as Ocean City, Orlando, Nashville and Caribbean cruises. On-site getaway programs are held at our beautiful Retreat Center, which boasts comfortable, air-conditioned cabins with kitchenette and fireplace. Our Retreat Center and lodges are fully accessible. On-site activities include fishing in our pond, ceramics, arts and crafts, horseback riding and hiking our nature trail. Our staff provide an exciting variety of program themes such as Dinner Cruise Weekend, Sports Weekend, Rock ´n Roll Week complete with a visit from Elvis, Spa Week, and trips to amusement parks.
Mission StatementAccess Adventures´ mission is to provide year round, community based, affordable vacations to persons who have disabilities. Travelers are supported by dedicated staff who provide a safe and caring atmosphere. Participants have opportunities to explore exciting new experiences, make friends and try a variety of age appropriate activities.
