Volunteers are a vital addition to the Melwood community. Currently, volunteers serve Melwood in a number of ways, including serving on the Board of Directors, assisting with therapeutic horseback riding lessons at the Melwood Recreation Center, teaching hobbies and crafts to people in the Personal Enrichment Program, or working with individuals on horticulture projects in the Garden Center. Community members who choose to volunteer bring their own expertise, experiences, and desire to share to expand and strengthen the support and opportunities available to those we serve.
Volunteer opportunities are available in both Charles and Prince George’s Counties and range from single-day events to long-term commitments. Requirements for volunteering vary based on the type of volunteer position desired, and may include criminal background screening, reference checks, drug testing, orientation and training, and a confidentiality agreement. For more information on getting started, email email@example.com or call our Volunteer Coordinator at 301-599-2724.
