In collaboration with the Arlington County Department of Human Services (DHS) and the City of Alexandria’s Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS), the Melwood JOBS Program addresses the needs of individuals receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) of differing abilities or significant barriers to employment residing in Arlington County and the City of Alexandria who are struggling to meet the demands of life, employment, and parenthood in an ever-changing world and economy. In partnership with Arlington DHS, Alexandria DCHS and the Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), TANF recipients of disabilities abilities gain specialized and intensive employment and life management support services. Linden has partnered with Virginia Initiative for Employment not Welfare (VIEW) programs in Arlington and Alexandria to assist in screening and identifying individuals who may have a diagnosed or undiagnosed and/or hidden disabilities or unemployment barriers. Melwood JOBS works closely with other community service agencies to provide comprehensive wrap-around supports to increase opportunities and economic independence for TANF recipients; creating healthy self-sustaining families and positively impacting future generations.
Melwood JOBS is a free service to assist TANF recipients with employment goals and future success. Funding for this program is possible through grants from the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) and the Alexandria Fund for Human Service (AHFS). If you are interested in participating in the Melwood JOBS program, speak with your VIEW worker and they will make the necessary referral to get you started.
