With only six employees, four full-time and two seasonal workers, the Melwood team at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts do an exceptional job keeping the grounds clean during all phases of landscape installation and maintenance. Some of their job duties include lawn mowing, weeding, hedge/tree trimming, mulching, fertilizing, irrigation systems management, trash removal, shrub/tree installation, transplanting, annual flower rotations, leaf removal and monitoring subcontractors responsible for turf/tree and shrub care. In addition to these daily tasks, they manage the landscaping projects for special events and are onsite to ensure the grounds are neat and tidy for the event day.
The teams’ dedication and work ethic is evident in the accolades they receive from the Kennedy Center’s Facilities Service Contracts Manager, David Froemming. Mr. Froemming commends them on the quality of work the Melwood team performs day each day. Melwood’s landscaping team remains focused on consistently providing the highest and most efficient support services to the Kennedy Center.
