UPPER MARLBORO, Md., Aug. 9, 2017— Melwood is pleased to announce The Daily Record has named Scott Gibson, Vice President of Human Resources, to their annual VIP list for 2017 -Very Important Professionals Successful by 40 award.
The Daily Record created the VIP List in 2011 to recognize professionals 40 years of age and younger who have been successful in Maryland. Winners are chosen based on their professional accomplishments, community service, and commitment to inspiring change.
“It is humbling to be included amongst the community and business leaders being honored by The Daily Record’s VIP List,” said Gibson. “It has been my privilege to work alongside my colleagues at Melwood. It has been rewarding to watch people with differing abilities transform their own lives, as a result of Melwood’s programs. I look forward to accomplishing even more with the team at Melwood, and to finding new ways to serve our community through my philanthropic pursuits.”
Gibson has played a strategic role at Melwood since 2013. His leadership in problem solving, communications, and management led to a recent appointment by Governor Larry Hogan to the Maryland Community Health Resources Commission. Gibson’s past experience in the nonprofit and government sectors include, Director of Human Resources of Harford County, Md., Deputy Director of the Maryland Racing Commission, and Vice Chairman and Trustee of Chesapeake Therapeutic Riding. Among others, Gibson also served on the Board of Directors for the Maryland Public Employers Labor Relations Association and National Public Employers Labor Relations Association, where he also served on the Legislative/Legal Advocacy Committee.

His continued commitment and compassion to Melwood’s mission and to the community serves as an example to all, that one individual can truly inspire change,” stated Cari DeSantis, president and CEO of Melwood. “We are honored to have him as a team member and excited to see his efforts recognized with this award.”
The winners will be honored Sept. 13 at a reception starting at 5:30 p.m. at Gertrude's at the Baltimore Museum of Art, 10 Art Museum Drive in Baltimore. The winners will be profiled in a special section that will be inserted into the September 14 issue of The Daily Record and available online at www.TheDailyRecord.com.
